As Fascist Double Engine Takes over National Capital !
Rather than the ignominious defeat of AAP,  the alarming issue before Indian people is the fascist BJP’s return to power in Delhi after 27 years. AAP under soft-Hindutva Kejriwal with its post-ideological politics and hence having no alternative to neoliberalism and neofascism has been in power since 2013 solely based on ‘freebies’ (as against the welfare schemes under erstwhile state-led Nehruvian development model) such as  free electricity, water and bus service for women. Now, since the AAP lacked an ideological-political base among the Delhi voters, it became easy for the ‘fascist double engine’ to directly take over the reins of Delhi with the promise of better freebies than AAP.
Of course, while the responsibility on the part of Congress, the leading player in INDIA Alliance, in BJP’s sweeping victory is more evident, Kejriwal was the first who came forward breaking the opposition unity that would have avoided the threatening regime change in Delhi. For, immediately after the declaration of 18th Lok Sabha election results that denied BJP a majority mark in Lok Sabha, on 6 June 2024 itself, an overconfident AAP declared in Delhi: “For the State Assembly elections, there is no need for the INDIA alliance. We will  fight the polls with the help of the people of Delhi, and we will win.” Same was the mindset of Kejriwal when he played the spoiler’s role in Goa, Haryana and Gujarat and in the latter he took on a hard-Hindutva posture even challenging the BJP whether it has the guts to implement the anti-Muslim UCC. In this contex, the people of Delhi together with all the working and oppressed people of India have to realise that Kejriwal’s ‘Hanuman plank’ and his efforts to enter in the good books of RSS are no match for the ‘Ram Rajya card’ of BJP, the principal political tool of RSS today.
Delhi Assembly election results once again brings to the fore the inherent weakness of the neoliberal ruling class parties ranging from the Congress and including the depoliticised CPI (M) like parties in resisting and defeating the maddening far-right, pro-corporate, majoritarian, and Manuvadi fascist offensive on the part of RSS/BJP. The opposition parties like AAP who have no political alternative to corporate-neofascism are failing even to comprehend that they cannot win elections merely copying the majoritarian, anti-Dalit and patriarchal ideology of the far-right, neoliberal fascist party in a milder or soft form at different levels. They are also not at all concerned with the fact that such an effort is not a panacea for the life-threatening situation faced by the common people of the country. For instance, AAP’ s own anti-corruption plank became meaningless on account of it’s basic inability to realise that neoliberalism and corporatism are the source of corruption today. And its efforts to cling on to urban middle class vote-bank was easily defeated by BJP through its latest budget that successfully patted on the dreams of middle class and through its hold over Delhi administration using the office of Lt. Governor and clout over the  election machinery.
In brief, the threatening Delhi election results amply reveal the limits of ‘freebie politics’ and populism in defeating fascism; rather the fascists are more capable to use such tools in furthering their agenda. While coming out in the open and organising the people on the  basis of their core issues, politicisation of the working class and all oppressed based on a political alternative to corporatism and neofascism is the immediate need of the hour. In this context, it is upto the progressive-democratic forces and all genuine antifascist sections to unitedly rise up to the occasion and come forward resolutely building up resistance against the intensifying fascist offensive today.
