Resolutely Condemn Fascist Double Engine’s Trampling of Jamia Students Right to Dissent !
CPI (ML Red Star resolutely condemns the repression unleashed on peacefully  protesting students by both Jamia Administration and Delhi Police. This should be viewed in the context of the Manuvadi ‘fascist double engine’ directly taking over the reins of National Capital.
As a mark of the anniversary of 2019 Anti-NRC protests, Left-affiliated student organisations in Jamia Millia Islamia University (JMIU), Delhi had arranged programs in the Campus under the banner of Jamia Resistance Day. The JMIU authorities have suspended two PhD scholars in connection with that. Against this, various student organisations have organised peaceful protest programs in the Campus. It is against this right of the students to dissent and freedom of expression that JMIU and Delhi police, through their coordinated move, have detained 12-13 students who were in peaceful sit-in protest for Campus Democracy, and later taken under police custody in the early hours of 13 February. Their whereabouts are still unknown. In addition, disciplinary actions including suspension and expulsion from campus in violation of  disciplinary of even accepted procedures are initiated against  student leaders representing different organisations such as Niranjan from AIRSO, Saurabh from AISA, Jyoti and Fuzali from DISSC , and so on, with the malicious intention of  jeopardising their studies altogether.
While saffron-corporate stranglehold over Indian campuses, demolishing campus democracy and scientific thinking, is an ever-intensifying process under Modi regime and as part of NEP 2020, the ascending of fascist double engine in Delhi and concomitant rise in  overall fascist atmosphere has added a new dimension to this reactionary offensive.
We call upon all progressive-democratic forces to come forward demanding the authorities to unconditionally release all students who are taken into custody, to revoke the suspension of students by JMIU Administration and ensure democracy and freedom in the Campus.
