Jangareddygudem Mandal, Pangidigudem ceiling lands should be distributed to the poor immediately!

In Jangareddygudem Mandal, Pangidigudem village, Revenue and Police officials came to discuss the issue of ceiling lands being cultivated by Dalit poor people and tried to intimidate the Dalit cultivators and threatened to file cases against the cultivators in question.

At this time, CPI (ML) Red Star West Godavari District General Secretary Jonnakuti Venkateswara Rao, who is leading the struggle for ceiling lands, held discussions with the concerned Revenue Police officials.  Following the verdict of Writ Petition No.: 12445/2023, the Hon’ble High Court has directed the District Collector to resolve the land issue expeditiously. The Lokayuktas are fighting a legal battle in the State High Court and the Supreme Court on the matter.

The High Court dismissed the petition of the landowners or Landlords asking the District Collector to resolve the issue of the ceiling lands expeditiously. The dismissed survey numbers show that the upper caste landowners of the ceiling lands have seized 60 acres of ceiling land with the help of the concerned revenue officials. Only 15 acres of the ceiling lands are being cultivated by Dalits. Jonnakuti Venkateswara Rao demanded that the authorities immediately seize the ceiling lands that the landlords are cultivating illegally. Venkateswara Rao explained that they have been fighting for the last several years regarding these lands.

Revenue and police officials advised the Tahsildar and RDO Jangareddy Gudem to come to the spot on Monday, 25-8-2025. Speaking on behalf of the Dalit poor cultivating the cieling lands, Sri Jonnakuti Venkateswara Rao warned the Revenue and Police officials that if the Revenue authorities do not seize or occupy the lands and distribute them to the Dalit poor, oherwise the landless and poor agricultural workers, the Dalits, will occupy the lands, and the government and the Revenue authorities should take responsibility for that.  He expressed his concern that the landless poor have been struggling a lot since the Agricultural Land Ceiling Act of 1/1973 came into effect, and that the government should take over the surplus lands from the landlords and distribute them to the landless poor, despite several High Court and Supreme Court judgments, no matter which government comes to power, it is on the side of the landlords, but the landless poor are not getting ceiling lands. Jonnakuti Venkateswara Rao explained that the landless poor are struggling for land under the auspices of CPI (ML) Red Star and Navyandhra Pradesh Rythu Kulli Sangam.

Navyandhra Pradesh Rythu coolie Sangam activists M. Venkat Rao, A Venkat Rao, G Swami, K Ravi, and P. S. participated in this program.
