In the beginning of the convention when the central banner was fixed at the backdrop of the stage, the authority of the hall suddenly registered their objection to the content of the banner where “RSS Fascism” — this phrase was written and a photo of Narendra Modi was there. The authority clearly said that today Narendra Modi was coming to Odisha and a government hall couldn’t allow a convention against him. After several hours of confrontation finally they allowed the convention to take place but compelled the organizers to change the banner. As a result the time of convention was reduced to only two and half hours. Moreover, in the beginning a police officer came into the hall and took a seat on the front row, however, after the objection made by our comrades he left the hall after a few minutes. In spite of the attempted disturbances of the authorities the convention was a big success.
Senior left intellectual Com Vijay Baidya inaugurated the convention. Com Pramila, the state secretary of the party, presided. Com Sankar, PB member of the party and in charge of Odisha was the main speaker. Com Braja bandhu Pradhan spoke from CPI, Com Raghunath Das from SUCI(C), Com Jagannath Deo from CPIM, Com Prafulla Samanta spoke on behalf of various mass movements, Com Yudhisthira Mahapatra from CPIML Liberation, Com Joyti ranjan Mahapatra from All India Forward Block, Com Mohan Naidu from CPIML Class Struggle, Com Narendra Mohanty from various mass movements, Com Basanti Acharya from Hetuvadi Sangathana spoke in the convention. Mass singer Com Asim Giri sang revolutionary songs.
Puri district committee has done a commendable job to make the convention successful. Ganjam district committee mobilised maximum. The convention hall was overcrowded. Khurda and other district committees also did well. Red salute to all.
