State-level People’s Convention in Bilaspur on “The Growing Threat of Sanghi Manuvadi Fascism and Our Role” Successfully Organized on 30 September

Down with Hate and Division!
Long Live Shared Martyrdom, Shared Heritage!

Bilaspur,1st October 2025.
Under the banner of Jan Sangharsh Morcha Chhattisgarh, and with the cooperation of Chhattisgarh Mukti Morcha, The Buddhist Preachers’ Wing Chhattisgarh and Democratic Secular Forces DRPDSM, a State-level Anti-Fascist People’s Convention was successfully held at Lions Club, Bilaspur on 30 th September.

The Convention was chaired by Comrade Lakhan Subodh (President, Guru Ghasidas Sewadar Sangh, Lok Sirjanhaar Mazdoor Union, and Convenor of the Convention Organising Committee). Members of the presidium included Comrade Prasad Rao (Convenor, Jan Sangharsh Morcha Chhattisgarh), Comrade Saura (State Secretary, CPI(ML) Red Star), Comrade Kaladas (PUCL State Secretary and Convenor, Chhattisgarh Mukti Morcha Workers’ Committee), Comrade Neera (Convenor, Mahila Mukti Morcha), Comrade Janak Lal Thakur (Former MLA & President, Chhattisgarh Mukti Morcha), social activist Ghasin Bai Kurre and Reverend Anishcharan. They all addressed the gathering.

The proceedings were conducted by Comrade Tuhin (Polit Bureau member, CPI(ML) Red Star), who also introduced the theme. Among the participants who spoke were Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Chhattisgarh Convenor Wahid Siddiqui, PUCL State President Joonas Tirki, peasant leader Shyam Murat Kaushik, Prakriti Bauddh (The Buddhist Preachers’ Wing Chhattisgarh), Comrade Lallan Prasad (CPI(ML) Liberation), social activist Naushad Ali, CPI National Council member Comrade Lakhan Singh Bhadauria, social activist Sardar Jasbir Singh, Pastor Sudhishcharan, Pastor Choaram, and Comrade R.N. Yadav from TUCI (Trade Union Centre of India).

On this occasion, the CPI(ML) Red Star’s booklet “Know RSS Fascism, Resist it Firmly, and Defeat it” was released. Six resolutions were passed unanimously. Among them:
The proposal for building an anti-fascist front against Sanghi-Manuvadi fascist forces in Chhattisgarh, presented by Comrade Dineshwari (AIRWO).
A resolution against Zionist Israel’s genocidal assault on the Palestinian people in Gaza, presented by social activist Sajjad Hussain.
A resolution rejecting chauvinist war-mongering and affirming the people’s demand for livelihood, democracy, and peace, presented by Comrade Hemlata (AIRWO).
A resolution for annihilation of the cruel caste system based on Manusmriti, presented by Comrade Yuvraj Netam (President, Adivasi Bharat Mahasabha, ABM).
A resolution against the forcible eviction of residents in Bhilai Sector 9, presented by activist Sanjana.
A resolution against the corporate plunder of jal-jungle-jameen from Bastar to Hasdeo Aranya by big houses like Adani, presented by Comrade Kaladas.
Revolutionary songs were presented by Comrades Kaladas, Neera, Rashi Agrawal and Sanjana. Folk singer Asha Subodh recited poetry. Delegates and activists from people’s struggles across Jashpur, Bilaspur, Raigarh, Raipur, Gariyaband, Kanker, Bastar, Durg, Rajnandgaon, Balod and Mahasamund districts attended in large numbers.

Speakers said that under saffron neo-fascism today, the entire social fabric of the country is facing a frightening disintegration through divisive, hate-filled, and communal provocations. Chhattisgarh, alongside Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha and Rajasthan, is fast being turned into a new laboratory for the Hindutva fascist project.
Particularly, religious minorities—Christians and Muslims—as well as women, toiling poor masses, Adivasis and Dalits are being targeted by this fascist campaign. In Chhattisgarh, life has been made unbearable for religious minorities. The Christian community, in particular, is facing relentless attacks under false charges of “forcible conversion” unleashed by Sanghi fascist gangs.
Meanwhile, under the loot of super-corrupt corporate houses like Adani and Ambani, and amidst this frenzy of majoritarian religious hysteria, 90% of the people of this country are groaning under the heaviest burdens of poverty, hunger, unemployment and price rise in the past 75 years. The Chhattisgarh government, which speaks of “one tree in the name of mother”, has handed over more than 15,000 acres of Hasdeo Aranya land and 1.2 million trees to Adani’s profit-greed. Whether Adivasis opposing corporate plunder of jal-jungle-jameen, or daily wage workers, sanitation workers, Anganwadi workers and helpers, Mitanins, unorganised sector workers or peasants—all are groaning under repression in the BJP’s so-called “double-engine” rule.
Nationwide, these fascist forces and their lapdog media have whipped up a frenzy of war hysteria and blind chauvinism. This year also marks the centenary of the world’s biggest and oldest fascist organisation, the RSS, which is hell-bent on tearing apart the Indian Constitution to establish a cruel, Manusmriti-based Hindu Rashtra.
In such a dark hour, the urgent need of the day is to form a militant state-level front against corporate-backed saffron fascism by uniting like-minded forces. Jan Sangharsh Morcha Chhattisgarh calls upon all progressive, pro-people forces in the state to take the initiative for such an anti-fascist front. Alongside, we appeal to all Left, peasant-worker organisations, democratic and secular-progressive forces, religious minorities, Dalit/Adivasi oppressed masses, women, youth and all like-minded organisations to unite and immediately launch a statewide political campaign against RSS neo-fascism.

Slogans raised at the Convention:
Long Live the Shared Martyrdom and Shared Heritage of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Bismil, Ashfaqulla, Uda Devi, Veer Narayan Singh, Guru Balakdas!
We Want Livelihood, Democracy and Peace—Not War!

Inquilabi Salaam!

Lakhan Subodh (Convenor)
Prasad Rao (Co-Convenor)
On behalf of the Organising Committee
