A Bill permitting the execution of Palestinian prisoners and detainees was introduced to the Knesset on 10 November, under the leadership of Israel’s far-right, neo-Zionist Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, whom ICC has declared a “war criminal” for crimes against humanity. After approval in the First Reading, the Bill is now proceeding to the Second and Third Reading before becoming law. Reminiscent of Hitler’s ‘Gas Chambers’ during the holocaust, as explained by Ben Gvir, the Bill’s aim is to facilitate mass executions targeting hundreds of Palestinians under illegal custody of Zionists.
Obviously, this is outright terrorism and violation of all precedents. For the Zionist criminal regime, which backed by its mentor US imperialism, has been systematically violating all UN laws and international precedents, this breach of obligations under international human rights law may not be a new thing. No doubt, over the past several years, the fascist-terrorist regime of Israel had already accomplished several dozens of extra-judicial executions of Palestinians under detention, with total impunity. And, except occasional statements, countries are still remaining as mere spectators. These include the so-called Western democracies whose frequent sermons on the 1948 Genocide Convention are there.
Therefore it is high time on the part of the entire world to ask Israel to halt further proceedings on this draconian death penalty bill including its summary withdrawal. Setting apart their ideological differences, it is the urgent task of all nations to declare total economic and military embargo against the Netanyahu regime coupled with abrupt freezing of all diplomatic relations with it. Struggling people and all progressive-democratic forces in all countries have to come forward, compelling their governments to resort to urgent steps for protecting Palestinian detainees under Zionist custody, including the immediate deployment of an International Enquiry Commission to visit places of detention and report on the condition of Palestinian prisoners to the world, for necessary action.
Most important of all is the international community’s direct involvement, including military intervention in Gaza and in all settler areas to wipe out Zionist occupation with the immediate aim of achieving Palestine liberation, and for the establishment of an independent secular, democratic Palestine stretching from the River to the Sea!
