Appeal Letter

To
The Tahsildar
Maski Taluk
Raichur District

Subject: Appeal to take immediate action against the negligence, corruption and anti-people activities of the administration in the limits of Balganur Town Panchayat.

We, Karnataka Raitha Sangha (AIKKS), Taluk Samiti Maski, hereby express our strong indignation against the anarchy, complete failure of the administration and the conditions that are making the lives of the people hell in the limits of Balganur Town Panchayat.

Balganur Cross, Sri Basaveshwara Nagar, Survey No. 509, in the year 2005-06, a purchase agreement was made in the name of Shri Hanumanthappa’s father Durugappa for public housing from Bhimappa’s father Pamappa, and about 100 families are living in it. According to the boundary of the said land, there is Balganur Goudanabhavi Road to the east, a 5-foot wide road to the west, Balganur Goudanabhavi Road to the north, and a 12-foot wide road to the south. In this, the 5-foot wide road to the west has been blocked by private individuals for no reason by planting trees, so we request that it be immediately cleared and made open to the public and the people living in this place. Similarly, we demand that Baba Saheb Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Bhavan and a high-tech toilet be constructed for the public in the said available place.

Similarly, the people of the town panchayat area have been wandering for basic facilities for about years, and the concerned authorities have turned a blind eye. The situation has developed where the administration is attacking the lives, health and dignity of the people. We clearly warn that an organized struggle is inevitable if immediate action is not taken on the following serious issues.

Our main demands:

1. Balganur Cross, Sri Basaveshwara Nagar, S.No. 509/23, a 5-foot wide road to the west has been blocked with trees and bells and should be cleared immediately.
2. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Bhavan should be constructed at Balganur Cross, Sri Basaveshwara Nagar. And a high-tech toilet should be constructed for the public.
3. Illegal sand mining should be stopped completely. The roads have been damaged by illegal sand tippers running day and night, posing a threat to people’s lives. All tippers should be stopped immediately and strict legal action should be taken against those concerned.
4. Narayana Nagar Camp, Lakshmi Camp and Basaveshwara Nagar (Cross) houses should be included in the demand list and comprehensively developed. These areas have been deliberately deprived of development. Road, water, electricity and sewage system should be provided immediately by including them in the demand.
5. The open defecation system should be completely abolished. The government’s announcements are limited to paper only, and people are still in a state of defecating in the open. This is an attack on the dignity and health of the people.
6. Continuous supply of clean drinking water should be ensured. People are getting sick due to unclean water. Clean drinking water system should be implemented immediately.
7. The dumps on the main road side, which are causing ill health to the people and spoiling the beauty of the town, should be removed immediately. These dumps are causing foul smell, disease and environmental damage.
8. The open toilet next to the government hospital should be removed immediately. This situation right next to the hospital is a clear evidence of the shamelessness of the administration.
9. The inhumane practice of dumping all the town’s garbage in the ditch should be stopped immediately. This is not only environmental destruction, but will also be a curse for the next generation.
10. A high-level investigation should be conducted into the increasing corruption in the town panchayat. Public money is being looted in the name of development works. Strict action should be taken against the guilty officials and contractors.
11. Street lights should be installed immediately from Malegaddi to Cross. Accidents and crimes are increasing due to darkness. This is a direct threat to the safety of the people.
12. The problem of lack of a sewage system should be resolved immediately. Dirty water is flowing on the road itself, ruining the health of the people.
13. A government first-grade college should be sanctioned for Balaganur town and a hostel for boys and girls should be constructed.

All these problems are not new. But due to the negligence of the administration, the people have reached the brink of explosion. If this appeal is not responded to immediately and the issues are not resolved within the stipulated time frame, a violent protest, road blockade and public movement will be held in front of the Balaganur Town Panchayat office under the leadership of the Karnataka Raitha Sangha (AIKKS). The administration will be fully responsible for it.

We demand that this should not be considered as just an appeal, but as a warning and wake-up call for the people.
