The US-Zionist axis, the root of all evil in the world today, without any provocation, has again unilaterally attacked Iran in violation of all international laws and conventions. As per information, the Israeli Defence Force, which called the aggression on Iran as operation “Lion’s Roar”, has justified it for “dramatically weaken the regime and its military capabilities.”

It’s a shame for India that Indian Prime Minister was having strategic ideological-political and military engagements in Tel Aviv when the US-Zionist evil axis was coordinating the arrangements for this heinous crime. And the attack took place hours after Modi left Israel after addressing its parliament. Revealingly, on the eve of Modi’s Israel visit, India had also issued an urgent travel advisory for over 10000 Indian citizens in Iran to leave it with immediate effect. Thus, this unprovoked and illegal US-Zionist attack on Iran has exposed India’s unholy links with US-Zionist. As such, the GOI should come forward condemning this flagrant violation of international law by US-Zionist terrorists.

The international Community should rise up and take appropriate steps to stop this aggression before its escalation to a catastrophic situation.

Tapa Mandi / Barnala, Punjab / 22 February / Today, under the leadership of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), a joint front of various farmers’ and workers’ organisations, pensioners, contract employees, and student organisations gheraoed the residence of AAP’s sitting MLA Labh Singh Ugoke and staged a massive protest. During the demonstration, strong slogans were raised against what the speakers termed the fascist Modi government and the Punjab government.

Addressing the gathering were BKU (Ekta) Ugrahan District President Chamkaur Singh Nainiwal and General Secretary Jarnail Singh Badra; BKU (Dakaunda) Dhaner leader Bhola Singh Chhanna; Krantikari Kisan Union (Buttar) leader Janta Singh Dhaula; Mazdoor Adhikar Andolan TUCI Punjab leader Comrade Labh Singh Akalia; BKU Dakaunda Burjgil leader Darshan Singh Ugoke; Punjab Kisan Union leaders Jagga Singh Badra, Binder Kaur Bhadaur, and Ranjit Kaur Patti Sekhwan, among others.

The speakers stated that the “fascist” Modi government is rapidly passing pro-corporate, anti-people black laws, which have pushed workers and farmers into worsening conditions, while benefiting highly corrupt crony corporate houses such as Adani and Ambani.

Labour leaders alleged that the Modi government is dismantling the MGNREGA Act, thereby increasing unemployment among poor workers and further worsening the condition of the toiling masses. They said that in the interest of domestic and foreign corporate houses, the government has scrapped 44 labour laws and implemented four anti-worker Labour Codes. Replacing the eight-hour workday with a twelve-hour workday, they claimed, will intensify economic exploitation of workers and employees while directly benefiting big capitalists.

The new trade agreement between Prime Minister Modi and U.S. President Donald Trump, they said, is entirely against Indian farmers and working people and will benefit foreign companies and big corporate houses. The leaders alleged that the Modi government has completely bowed before what they described as U.S. imperialist policies under Trump. They warned that the agreement would increase exploitation of farmers cultivating soybean, cotton, fruits, pulses, vegetables, and sorghum, and would severely impact the country’s agricultural marketing system.

They further alleged that through the Electricity Amendment Bill 2025 and the Seed Act, the Modi government is handing over crucial sectors to corporate houses, leading to privatisation of electricity and the withdrawal of facilities available to poor people. With poverty, inflation, and unemployment already severely affecting citizens, they claimed that 85 percent of the toiling and oppressed population now faces devastation.

For these reasons, the joint front of farmers’ and workers’ organisations has been holding protest demonstrations across Punjab in front of the residences of BJP and Aam Aadmi Party leaders against what they described as anti-people policies of the Modi government and the Punjab government. The leaders demanded that the Aam Aadmi Party immediately fulfill its electoral promises, repeal the new GRG law, the four Labour Codes, and the trade agreement with the United States, and abolish the contract system while ensuring permanent employment for workers and employees.

Other speakers at the protest included Darshan Singh Mehta, Malkit Singh Sandhu Kalan, Jarnail Singh Dhaula, and labour leader Nachhattar Singh Ramnagar.

As part of the intensifying Hindutva-Zionist nexus, whose shared ideological basis is anti-Muslimness or Islamophobia, India has abstained from the 17 February Joint Statement by 85 Countries at the UN criticising Israel’s tightening illegal control over the West Bank. Among other things, the Statement says: “We strongly condemn unilateral Israeli decisions and measures aimed at expanding Israel’s unlawful presence in the West Bank.” This disgraceful position taken by India is linked with Modi’s scheduled visit to Israel on 25 February and also in view of the Hindutva regime’s renewed servility to the US, as the Trump-led Board of Peace is to meet in Washington.

No doubt, this is not an overnight development. Under the Modi regime, India has been abstaining from a series of UN Resolutions against Israeli criminalities on Palestinians. This has been more specific during the last two years. Instances are October 2023 UNGA that called for an immediate truce in the Israeli-Hamas conflict, December 2023 UN vote seeking legal opinion from the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on Israel’s “prolonged occupation”, June 2025 UNGA calling for an “immediate, unconditional and permanent” ceasefire in Gaza, etc. Though there had been a post Cold war neoliberal dilution in India’s firm solidarity with Palestine, since the 1990s, the strategic shift in India’s alliance towards the Zionist regime took place with the ascendence of Modi regime in 2014 and Modi’s visit to Israel in 2017 – the first Indian prime minister to do so.

Of course, India had a glorious stance regarding the Palestine question that was inseparably linked up with India’s erstwhile anti-colonial position and solidarity with the oppressed peoples of the world. It was based on this perspective that Mahatma Gandhi, ‘Father of the Nation’, resolutely opposed the creation of a Jewish state in Palestine in 1938 itself , calling it “wrong and inhumane”. He argued that Palestine belonged to the indigenous Arabs and that forcing a state there with imperialist aid was a crime against humanity. Gandhi had unequivocally stated: “Palestine belongs to the Arabs in the same sense that England belongs to the English or France to the French”. Gandhi was against Zionism and viewed the Zionist project in Palestine as an imperialist, settler-colonial imposition. To be precise, during the anti-colonial struggle and in the Nehruvian period and as part of the Non-Aligned Movement, India consistently stood in solidarity with the Palestinians and oppressed Arab peoples. For instance, India was the first non-Arab country to recognise the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) in 1974 and among the first to recognise the State of Palestine in 1988.

True, when the broad anti-colonial stream in India remained opposed to Zionism, the RSS, whose ‘cultural nationalism’ is a cover for colonial-imperialist servitude, has been upholding a Hindutva narrative regarding this from its very inception. Both Savarkar and Golwalkar were sympathetic to the Zionist cause and viewed Zionism or political Judaism as a model for the Hindu Rashtra based on the ideology of Hindutva or political Hinduism. Today under the Modi regime led by the BJP, the political tool of RSS, India’s strategic partnership, encompassing economic and military deals, with the Zionist regime are perfectly in tune with this Hindutva perception. And, the clamour for “Hindutva India” and ”Zionist Israel” and strengthening Saffron-Zionist nexus with deeper anti-Muslim ideological underpinnings have become the dominant political discourse in Indian neofascist situation.

Now the Joint Statement by 85 countries has, in essence, exposed Trump’s Board of Peace and opposes Israeli moves under its cover to alter the demographic composition and status of the entire Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem. However Modi regime’s refusal to join this initiative has become ignominious. Revealingly, India is the only founder-member of BRICS that stays out of the initiative which was endorsed even by European Union and Quad partners, including Japan and Australia.

Meanwhile, consequent on widespread criticism and isolation among the comity of nations, as a belated face-saving exercise, and as a second thought, even while remaining out of the Joint Statement by 85 countries, India is reported to have added its name to the list of countries criticising Israel’s unilateral moves on the West Bank. By this ‘face-saving’move’, India avoided a situation of antagonizing both the Zionist regime and the US imperialist master. And, Modi’s upcoming visit to Israel points to a further neofascist reinforcement of the Hindutva-Zionist nexus.

We appeal to all progressive-democratic forces who stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people to come forward against this condemnable pro-Zionist move by the Modi regime.

On 14 February, Moolnivasi Sangh Chhattisgarh, with the support of various mass organizations, organized a rally and public meeting in support of the new UGC law and the firm implementation of the caste census, demanding the filling of backlog vacancies, and protesting against the persecution of minorities—especially Muslim and Christian communities—in the state in the name of a “Hindu Rashtra” by the fascist Sangh Parivar.

The procession began from Nalghar Chowk in the capital city of Raipur and marched to the Budhatalab protest site, where it culminated in a public meeting.

The chief guest of the program was Comrade Janak Lal Thakur, former MLA and President of Chhattisgarh Mukti Morcha. The event was conducted by Amarjeet Patel, Convenor of Moolnivasi Sangh Chhattisgarh.

Speakers included prominent intellectual Vishnu Baghel; Comrade Saura, State Secretary of Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Red Star; Comrade Tuhin, All India Convenor of the Caste Annihilation Movement (CAM) and the Revolutionary Cultural Forum; Advocate Bhanjan Jangde; Dashrath Ahirwar; Savita Bauddh Sankalpi, Convenor of the Buddhist Pracharak Wing, Chhattisgarh; Advocate Surekha Jangde; Advocate Shakir Qureshi, All India General Secretary of Rashtriya Muslim Morcha; Shyam Murat Kaushik, Convenor of Chhattisgarh Kisan Mazdoor Sangh; Akhilesh Edgar, Convenor of Progressive Christian Alliance Chhattisgarh; Advocate Katyayani Verma; Shagun Verma; Chandraprakash Dhidhi; retired Judge Prabhakar Gwal; and Jayashree Bauddh.

At the conclusion of the demonstration, a memorandum addressed to the President of India was submitted to government officials on behalf of Moolnivasi Sangh Chhattisgarh.

The demonstrators took an oath to defend the Indian Constitution drafted by Babasaheb Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and to safeguard democracy. They also resolved to unite all progressive democratic forces—including Dalits, oppressed communities, Adivasis, women, and minorities—to launch a struggle for the creation of an egalitarian society and against the imposition of a inhuman caste-based Hindu Rashtra and its constitution in the form of the cruel Manusmriti by RSS Manuvadi, fascist forces upon the 85 percent Bahujan Moolnivasi population of the country.

CPI (ML) Red Star salutes the working class, peasants and all exploited and oppressed sections for the country-wide mobilisation and participation in the General Strike on 12 February 2026. According to reports, around 30 crore people from more than 600 districts across India participated in the All India strike.

Together with protests against the four Labour Codes and the Free Trade Deals with US, EU and other imperialist countries, the Charter of Demands included repeal of VB-G RAM G Act, SHANTI Act, Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan Bill, the Draft Seeds Bill, Electricity (Amendment) Bill, etc. that facilitate corporate Hindutva fascism. The strike has its impact on both formal and informal sectors in varying proportions across India.

Meanwhile, while the strike was going on, it’s highly condemnable that the fascist regime pushed through the Industrial Relations Code ( Amendment) Bill 2026 in the Lok Saha, as part of further enhancing “ease of doing business” for the most regressive corporate-crony capitalists. In the guise of avoiding “future unwarranted complication”, the Industrial Relations Code aims at replacing the Trade Unions Act (1926), Industrial Employment Act (1946) and the Industrial Disputes Act (1947). These and other corporate-fascist offensives taking away whatever left of erstwhile pro-worker provisions, call for prolonged and uncompromising protests in the days ahead, from the workers, peasants and all toiling and oppressed masses in the country!

CPI ( ML) Red Star once again congratulates all the workers, peasants and toiling people who made the All India Strike a succes!
