The fifth West Bengal State Conference of CPI (ML) Red Star was held on 25th and 26th July, 2026, in Gazole town of Malda district. It was the first state conference after the split took place four years back which caused severe damage to the state party. Due to the split almost all party workers except five members left the party following a treacherous leadership. Since then a patient rebuilding started and as a result some comrades who left earlier came back to the party. The Malda district committee along with its secretary Com Chandrakanta Das came back to the party and as a result the Malda district committee was rebuilt following the rebuilding of the Kolkata district committee.
The conference discussed the entire process of rebuilding and our past mistakes of pampering compromises with the erstwhile immoral leadership which helped them to fall into the illusion that they were above the party and led to eventual split. The conference also discussed the present political situation of the state involving the conditions which helped the fascist BJP/RSS to capture the state government. Our activities during the last four years were also discussed and necessary strategic and tactical steps in the changing situation of the state were discussed as well.
Fifteen members participated in the conference where the State POR and four central draft documents were discussed. A five member state committee was elected with Comrade Sankar as secretary.
In the inaugural programme comrades from CPIML and CPIML ND were present and spoke.
