CPI (ML) Red Star Resolutely Condemns Multiple Raids and Detention of Journalists !
As the latest manifestation on fascist attacks on independent journalism and mounting crackdown on freedom of expression, search agencies connected with Delhi Police today have unleashed multiple raids on journalists and commentators connected with ‘News Click’, reportedly in continuation of the draconian UAPA imposed on it. In multiple raids carried out at many places, mobile phones and laptops are being confiscated and press persons are detained for interrogation.
In view of the forthcoming Assembly and General elections, with the backing of corporate-saffron forces and Godi Media, and imposing unprecedented restrictions on digital and social media, the Modi regime is engaged in a no holds barred propaganda blitzkrieg in tune with its fascist agenda. In spite of that, the fascist regime is increasingly exposed before the people. The latest attack on independent media activists are to be seen in this context. Revealingly, as a manifestation of the escalation in crackdown on freedom of speech and expression, according to latest reports, the ‘Mother of Democracy’ is being further dropped to 150 among 180 countries in World Press Freedom Index.
While strongly condemning Modi regime’s fascist attack on press freedom and free expression and earnestly appealing to all democratic and antifascist forces to come forward resisting it, we declare our whole hearted solidarity with all persecuted journalists and activists at this critical juncture.
