Resolutely Condemn and Resist US Threat of Military Intervention in Venezuela!

Trump-led US regime, world’s number one bully and self-proclaimed international policeman, has deployed warships and fighter jets in south Caribbean Sea and off the coast of Venezuela threatening military intervention, under the pretext of fighting drug trafficking and terrorism. It smacks of the most heinous Anglo-American aggression on Iraq, claiming that it possessed weapons of mass destruction. In a similar manner, aggressively stocking tensions, Trump has labelled Venezuelan president Maduro, a “terrorist-cartel leader” and the government led by Maduro, a “narco-terror cartel.”
Following Trump’s unjustified threat, without providing any valid basis or evidence, the US Defence Department has reiterated that the military move is part of “president’s objective to eliminate … cartels” that “threaten the territory, safety, and security of the United States and its people.” However, according to independent observers and well-meaning people, allegations of “narco-terrorism” by US administration are part of a heinous campaign to prepare the ground for launching military aggression to bring about a “regime change” in Venezuela with an eye on its rich petroleum resources. To facilitate it, since his ascent to power, Trump has been characterising the Maduro government as “illegitimate”.
As the world knows, during the prolonged Vietnam War that ended by 1975, CIA’s role as patron of “Golden Triangle”, the biggest source of global drug trade then, was a much discussed topic. Same was the case when it was replaced by “Golden Crescent” following America’s aggression on Afghanistan. To be precise, global drug trafficking today is flourishing in close link with the logic of imperialist corporate capital.
Obviously, the present US accusations of drug trafficking on Venezuela and other Latin American countries are only a camouflage to target regimes that take an independent position challenging the US big-brotherly approach according to which the entire Latin America is an “American backyard”. And, now Trump’s plan, together with the US Military Industrial Complex, is to install a puppet regime in Venezuela. It is heartwarming that many Latin American and Caribbean nations including Brazil, Columbia, etc. are coming up against US imperialism.
In this context, CPI (ML) Red Star, while resolutely condemning this heinous US imperialist move, declare its solidarity with all the peoples of Latin America and Caribbean in their firm resistance against US imperialist move. This critical juncture also calls for world people’s firm unity and solidarity with Venezuela in its resolve to stand against US imperialism, the number one enemy of working and oppressed peoples of the world today.
