CPI (M.L) Red Star Andhra Pradesh 3rd State Conference was held grandly on July 25-26 at the “Srikakulam Struggle Martyrs’ Venue” [District Retired Revenue Officers’ Building] in the district headquarters of Parvathipuram.
A procession of hundreds of activists from all parts of the state proceeded from Belgam Parvathipuram Railway Station to the conference venue. Party General Secretary Comrade P.J. James, Party State Secretary Comrade Kollipara Venkateswara Rao, Polit Bureau members Comrades Mannava Hari Prasad and Comrade Saurav, along with secretaries from various districts of the party: Comrades Thota Jeevana (Parvathipuram), Dola Shankara Rao (Srikakulam), Bhimavarapu Subba Rao (Prakasam), Devatoti Veeraswamy (Bapatla), Gurrapu Shala Ramanaiah (Palnadu), Venigalla Pushpalata (Guntur), Madakam Ramanna (West Godavari), and District Mahila Sangham leaders Comrades Nanduri Radhika Kumari and Veerelli Sara, among others led the procession.
The revolutionary tribal folk performing artists troupe was also accompanied the procession.
Parvathipuram has a great history of revolutions and sacrifices. It is the land of the Srikakulam struggle in which over 400 revolutionaries were martyred. It is also the place of the world-famous Parvathipuram Conspiracy Case with over 150 accused and more than 1,000 witnesses. It is in this Parvathipuram that CPI (M.L) Red Star has set foot and is moving forward building the revolutionary movement.
The public meeting was held at the Retired Revenue Officers’ Office premises under the chairmanship of Party District Secretary Comrade Thota Jeevanna.
Reception Committee Chairman and prominent lawyer Vavilapalli Kumaraswamy gave the welcome address.
Party General Secretary Comrade P.J. James delivered inaugural address and State Secretary Comrade Kollipara Venkateswara Rao, Polit Bureau members Comrades Mannava Hari Prasad and Comrade Saurav, secretaries from various districts, and other women leaders also addressed the public meeting.
Delivering the keynote address at the public meeting chaired by Comrade Thota Jeevana, Party All-India Secretary Comrade P.J. James explained with examples the threat posed to the Indian Constitution by corporate saffron fascism and by the RSS-BJP and Hindu fundamentalist forces. He said that the BJP and the Narendra Modi government at the center have been violating the Indian Constitution every minute for the last 12 years by enacting many draconian laws and reducing Parliament to a mere formality. He stated that this is not traditional fascism like that of Germany’s Hitler or Italy’s Mussolini, but a different “neo-fascism” being followed by Narendra Modi. As a junior partner to America’s Trump, Modi is running the administration in India with bias toward Ambani and Adani. Therefore, he called for resisting and defeating this new kind of corporate saffron fascism.
The delegate session started on the second day. The conference elected the Presidium of Comrades Thota Jeevanna, Bhimavarapu Subba Rao, and Venigalla Pushpalata and Steering committee of Comrades Mannava Hari Prasad, Kollipara Venkateswara Rao, and Dola Shankara Rao. A minutes committee of B.T. Naidu and Gujja Janardhan also was elected.
Comrade Thota Jeevana delivered the presidential address on behalf of the Presidium. CPI (M.L) Red Star General Secretary P.J. James said that unity among communist parties in the country is essential to resist corporate saffron fascism.
As the inaugural event of the second day’s delegates’ session, State Secretary Comrade Kollipara Venkateswara Rao hoisted the flag. Speaking at the delegates’ session that followed, he said that unity among communists in the country is urgent.
After that, the Secretary’s Report was presented. 17 members participated in the discussion on the state Report.
Com P J James presented the draft documents of the Central Committee for 13th Party Congress followed by general discussion among the delegates.
Several resolutions were passed in the delegates’ session. These included: completing pending projects in the state; continuing Visakhapatnam Steel Plant in the public sector; allocating special funds for the development of North Andhra and Rayalaseema districts; giving half the share of Godavari KG Basin gas to the state; distributing government wasteland to the poor; and completing the Tarakarama Theertha Sagar, Janjhavati, Jamparlakota, and other projects in North Andhra districts. All the resolutions moved in the delegates’ session were unanimously adopted by all party delegates.
Following this, a new State Committee was elected. The conference unanimously elected as State Committee members: Comrades Kollipara Venkateswara Rao, Mannava Hari Prasad (Guntur), B. Subba Rao (Prakasam), Jonnakuti Venkateswara Rao (Eluru), Madepalli Venkata Ratnam (Eluru), Thota Jeevanna (Parvathipuram), Venigalla Pushpalata (Guntur), Dola Shankara Rao (Srikakulam), Nanduri Radha Kumari (Srikakulam), Garugubilli Sooraiah (Parvathipuram), Madakam Ramanna (Eluru), Veeravalli Sara (Guntur), Devatoti Veeraswamy (Bapatla), Gurrapu Shala Ramanaiah (Palnadu), and others.
Members from Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Alluri Sitarama Raju Manyam District, Vizianagaram, and Anantapur districts will also be inducted into the State Committee.
Comrade Mannava Hari Prasad was unanimously elected as CPI (M.L) Red Star State Secretary by the newly elected state committee.
Speaking after being elected as the new State Secretary, Comrade Mannava Hari Prasad said that CPI (M.L) Red Star will expand at the grassroots level in Andhra State and will organize movements in solidarity with the people to resolve their problems.
Finally, the newly elected Secretary Comrade Mannava Hari Prasad lowered the hoisted the Red Flag, and the conference concluded with the singing of the International.
The two-day conference was held with great enthusiasm.
